What is Driven By Her Band?

Driven By Her Band is a feature-length documentary following Beryl Neurman, a lifelong Duran Duran fan living with cerebral palsy, as she sets out to accomplish a dream she never believed was possible: traveling overseas to see the band perform in their homeland. Along the way, the film explores disability, independence, accessibility, aging, friendship, resilience, and the universal desire to live life on our own terms.

Who is Beryl?

Beryl Neurman is a writer, disability rights advocate, and lifelong music fan who has spent decades navigating a world that often wasn’t designed with accessibility in mind. Her journey is deeply personal, but it reflects experiences shared by millions of people living with disabilities around the world. Through honesty, humor, and determination, Beryl hopes her story encourages others to pursue dreams they may have thought were out of reach.

Why Duran Duran?

Like many people, Beryl found comfort, hope, and inspiration through music. For more than forty years, Duran Duran’s music has been a constant source of joy throughout her life. What began as a love for a band became something much larger: a lifelong dream that ultimately inspired the journey at the heart of this documentary. While Duran Duran provides the backdrop, this film is ultimately about courage, perseverance, and the human need for connection.

Is this documentary only for Duran Duran fans?

Not at all! While fans of the band will certainly recognize the music and history surrounding Beryl’s journey, the heart of the film is universal. It’s about overcoming obstacles, chasing dreams, finding community, and refusing to let life’s challenges define who you are. What stage is the film currently in?

Production is currently underway. We have completed extensive planning and development, with filming taking place throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Once principal photography is complete, the film will move into editing, animation, sound design, color grading, music licensing, and festival submissions. We are currently looking for people who want to get involved, whether that is through an in kind donation to the film, or fulfilling a sponsorship role. Any amount will help us push the film over the top, and get this deeply personal story told.
